2013 Tourism Business Travel Marketing Hospitality Industry Survey with Tourism Tim Warren
As we near the end of the year, this is the time to reflect on this year and plan for next year. Not only what we have to be grateful for, but also what was challenging, incomplete or not done at all…
Thank You
I really appreciate everybody from around the world who posted comments last week on what they were grateful for in their tourism lifestyle. I think we’re all pretty darn lucky to be in the travel and hospitality industry.
The unfortunate thing is, for every successful operator I interview or I hear about, I get dozens of comments and question from global tourism professionals with essentially the same challenge:
- “How do I get more business?”
- “What is the best method for more traffic to my website?”
- “How to why get more prospects and sales from my website?”
- “How do I connect with tourism partners and travel agents?”
- “What is the best way to market?”
- You fill in the blank here…
Can you relate?
I can. I am as much a student, as a teacher. I am constantly looking for best practices in the business and marketing of tourism. Most of the best ideas, I got from you, my subscribers. Thank you.
And as I learn and grow, I share with clients and back with you. Everybody wins!

Hello Tim, Thank you very much for your big help.
I have done something about your advice but we don’t have expert website designer in Tanzania and to hire international expert is expensive
(2) i get difficult to reach customers and travel agent.
Those are biggest challenge for me, but i thank you for your class is real helpful.
Thanks, Dearson.
Pricing is ( was ) an issue more so this past year.
Poison pen writers – are a challenge.
A new issue; more ” competitors ” entering the market place – creating a rush to ” I’ll do it cheaper ” situation. I am expecting a lesser over-all market for 2013, so am going to try to go back to – long distance touring.
Cheers, bob
Still waiting for you to do my websites for me and make it work.
Need help. It seems everyone I hire has no idea how to do it right..

Hullo,
Am actually loving the whole marketing experience. Once I started seeing it as a video game a lot of things began to click. I just joined this field, but am in love with it already.
Piece of advice: When you are marketing a product that is all round loved then you need to try out things you have never done before because that may be the boost to push you through.
Kind Regards,

Mr Tim,
Thank you very much for your big help.
I have done something about your advice but we don’t have expert website designer in Tanzania and to hire international expert is expensive that to accommodate during to this world Crisis
(2) Secondly Its some how difficult to reach and get customers and most Travel Agents. as too costly from our regions if once you compare with non citizen working to the same industry once making marketing from their own Country or Colleges
Those are biggest challenge for me, but i thank you for your class is real helpful and hoping 2013 will be on my Side.
Hi Tim,
Been watching your stuff on you tube and its very interesting and yes very helpful. I started our travel agency from zero, didn’t even had enough budget to cover the professional fee to create a website so I decided to create my own website on a free domain, until now I haven’t changed the domain yet to our own since its stable and ranking is good on google. If you’ll use the key word “Bohol tour” it’s number 2 on page 1. But I am completely aware of how important is it to have our own domain. So I created another site which we will be paying the domain after completion. inconboholtour.webs.com/ if you have some time please help us for us to be ready on 2013. Our current website is not dead on arrival but we are looking for much better number of arrivals and confirmed booking. Your insights will be much appreciated.
By the way our biggest hold back would still be about pricing. When I first started our agency, our pricing was just competent but as competition grows most of the operators are offering really low prices which exceeds the standard rate. We remain to follow the standard rate which was set by our local government which I think is the right thing to do to continue to give a good quality service. But as time comes I noticed that some of our clients who came from a certain travel forum were lost due to they were looking for a cheaper rate, as we are also doing of some bracketing of our target markets, that market was really lost as 2013 came but our referrals are doing good. With customers who are referred to us by our previous clients it is not that difficult to turn them into sales as they already know the quality of our services. But as much as possible we would really love to increase our sales. I already stop on advertising on that from where I categorize it as cheap target market. Because even how much I used on posting about our customer reviews, if they’ll compare our prices to our competitors we are higher. Is it okey to let it loose? Or can you give some tricks on how to turn them into sales. I am very new to marketing and sales and really needs a big guidance. With your videos I really can say that you are an expert and you can give us helpful advise. Please help
Paul incon
